Privacy & GDPR

Understand your account data, shared work, and privacy controls.

Who operates this service

LIBRISOL operates Librisol and is the contact for privacy requests. Write to the postal correspondence address below. This notice describes the application's controls; deployment-specific information on legal bases, retention, service providers, storage locations and international-transfer safeguards still needs to be completed.

Data used by the application

Account details, profile photos, language and privacy preferences support your profile and settings. Sign-in and security records protect access. Books, drafts, history, invitations, review discussions and credits support writing and collaboration. Ratings, watch choices and notifications support reader features. Privacy requests and responses support their review.

What others can see

Public books and their displayed contributor names are visible to visitors. Private books require reading permission. A writer’s unsubmitted working copy is private to that writer. Book managers can see invitations they manage. Individual ratings and watch choices are private; only rating totals are public. Authorised administrators manage accounts and service records. Details of hosting and email providers still need to be published.

Your account controls

In Privacy, download the available personal account data or request account deletion. The export excludes passwords, access credentials, manuscripts and draft content; use book downloads for authorised book content. A deletion request goes to an administrator for review and does not immediately delete or disable the account. Shared books, ownership and historical credits need separate consideration. You can also remove activity entries and notifications, stop watching a book, and change your rating or remove it.

Contact preferences

Privacy settings record whether you allow contact by other members. Your email remains private. Direct messaging is not available yet; this preference is saved for future contact requests.

Cookies and device storage

A session cookie keeps you signed in. A language cookie remembers your interface choice for up to one year. The editor stores recovery copies on your device; another local value informs open tabs when your account changes. Clearing browser site data removes these local copies and settings, not saved server drafts. On a shared device, sign out and clear local site data when you are done.

Retention and shared work

Activity and notification lists show the last 90 days; older entries are cleaned up when you open those lists. This is not a retention rule for all account or book data. The operator must specify other retention periods and explain any records kept when responding to a deletion request.

Your rights and complaints

Where applicable, request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, object to processing, or withdraw consent to consent-based processing. Write to LIBRISOL at the postal address below to exercise these rights, raise a data-protection complaint, or request information beyond the account export. Explain your request and include a return correspondence address; do not send passwords or sign-in codes. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), or another competent data protection authority where applicable. An online contact and reporting form is planned and is not yet available.
